Join Radim Zenkl for live and interactive online group lessons from the convenience of your own home or anywhere in the world. Two hour one-time sessions with a short break in the middle. All the sessions will be video recorded and made available on a special class website, so if you miss the live session, you can watch it later at your convenience, download it and keep it for good. The students will have access to PDFs of class material in both standard notation and tablature, chords charts and fingering diagrams. During the live sessions, students can ask questions via a built-in chat window or by microphone if preferred, also play examples for the teacher. What you will need to participate: 1. A desktop or laptop Mac or PC computer, iPad or Internet-connected mobile device (such as iPhone) in order to view the sessions, plus a good internet connection. Check your system requirements HERE. 2. An internal microphone and speakers (or headphones) on your laptop or desktop computer, or a phone to listen and speak (if desired) during the sessions. Instructions for participating by phone are included when you register for the course (long distance charges may apply). About Radim Zenkl: Radim Zenkl is a mandolin player, composer and instructor. Originally from the Czech Republic, he began playing the mandolin at thirteen, and discovered bluegrass by listening to records that were smuggled in to his communist country. The sound of a bluegrass mandolin initiated the spark that launched a decision to play music as a career at the age of seventeen and subsequently led Radim beyond bluegrass to an eclectic array of styles. He escaped from Czechoslovakia in summer of 1989 (four months before the fall of communism) and settled in the San Francisco Bay area. Radim won the Mandolin Championship at Winfied, KS in 1992. He has invented a masterful technique, the 'Zenkl style,' in which a single mandolin sounds like two. He has recorded several solo CDs (released on Acoustic Disc, Shanachie and Ventana), and has appeared on more than sixty other recordings. In the past 20+ years he has taught at over 70 weeklong music camps, including the Kaufman Kamp, Swanannoa Gathering, and the first, second and two recent Mandolin Symposiums. Radim’s worldwide performing and teaching credentials include guest appearances at prestigious music institutions such as the Berklee College of Music in Boston and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland.
